🌻🌼Aztec Flower Warriors🌼🌻 "Flower Wars" or Xochiyayoyotl became a common practice for the Aztecan civilization following a famine in the 1450's. The Aztecs believed the gods were displeased in the amount of sacrifices they had recieved and we're causing the famine, so in an effort to appease the gods the Aztecs reached an agreement with a neighboring civilization to have a war with the sole intent of capturing warriors for ritual sacrifice. Many historians and scholars believe there were additional political and social motivations to these wars, but I particularly enjoy the more religious ties they had. 🌼 🌼 These two are the first of a new series Weston will be referring to as "The Ancients" which will focus on characters and imagery from ancient civilizations.
