Biography:
From the tender age of six, Tom Sanchez knew that he was destined to become a glassblower. As a child, he would eagerly observe the teachers and students practicing the art of soft glass at Palomar while patiently waiting for summer vacations to pass (his father was occupied with running the computer network). Although Tom faced challenges during his high school years, he discovered a sense of purpose in working with glass when he turned 18, and his fascination with the craft grew into a lifelong obsession.
Since enrolling in Palomar's glass program in 1999, Tom has dedicated over 15 years to the art industry. He has explored the boundaries of this molten medium, creating everything from beads and marbles to neon pieces and large-scale productions. In July and August of 2014, Tom's work was showcased in an exhibit at the Encinitas Library, and he also had the opportunity to perform live at the city's First Annual Dia De Los Muertos Celebration.
Not only has Tom demonstrated his artistic talent, but he has also proven his ability to sell his creations. In 2014 alone, his artwork generated an impressive $3,000 in monthly sales. Tom leveraged various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Etsy, BigCartel, and galleries, to reach a wide audience and achieve these sales. He takes pleasure in engaging with people of all ages and actively contributes to the community by educating them about art, health, and wellness through his inspiring work.
